On November 8th, 2012 Nestle USA voluntarily recalled quantities of it's NESQUIK Chocolate Powder in the 10.9, 21.8 and 40.7 ounce containers after being informed by an ingredient supplier that calcium carbonate used in making the powder may have been contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella causes a food borne illness known as salmonellosis. The Nestle USA product affected by the recall was Chocolate Powder made in October, 2012 and the affected products all have an expiration date of "Best Before Oct 2014″
